Accessibility features in XDefiant

All of the accessibility features can be found and adjusted from the settings menu. The first feature allows players to select from four different colorblind modes which will change the colors of different pings and icons for better visibility if needed. Changing the flashbang effect option will help those who have light sensitivity by making the screen go dark instead of light when the player is hit by an enemy flashbang. If the menus need to be a bit more readable there is an option to set the menu text contrast to high instead of normal.

Accessibility chat features in XDefiant

Because this is an online game with competitive elements, a chat feature is included for communication as well as the usual trash talking. Of course, many accessibility options are included to adjust the players’ experience with the game chat. For those that have difficulty reading, there is an option to have menu narration as well as speech-to-text and text-to-speech chat options with volume sliders for each to be adjusted as necessary. If players wish to be engaged in the game chat, there is a feature for audio cues that play anytime there is a new message that also has a volume adjuster. While many players enjoy participating in the game chat, there are some who may not want to take part in it which is why there is also an option to turn the chat window off. Understandably, there are some players who may enjoy engaging with the game chat, but they don’t like some of the toxic language that comes with it. For those people, there is an option to censor the profanity in the chat with the chat language filter. Chat settings in an online game are a must have in order to create the best online gaming experience for everyone.

The Importance of Accessibility in XDefiant

As mentioned before, XDefiant is a free-to-play title which means anyone with a system that can run it has access to play it. Making a game free most likely means that the developers want as many people as possible to enjoy it. Because of this, it is imperative that all the accessibility needs are met to accommodate for the part of the gaming community that needs features like these to have a good experience with the game. Gaming is a hobby that anyone and everyone should be able to enjoy if they want without worrying about their personal limitations.
