With SAG-AFTRA actors and WGA writers still on strike; Hollywood studios still refusing to meet the demands of those who work hard to bring audiences some of their favorite movies and shows; and now video game companies potentially on the striking block, too — fans of many franchises are wondering when they’ll get to see their favorite stories return to the screen. For fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead, the answer to that question is, thankfully, soon.

Several AMC Shows Can Resume Production

The Ones Who Live is one of several AMC shows which will be allowed to re-enter production.

AMC seems eager to resume production on several of their franchises, The Walking Dead most of all. The network has been making major pushes to expand the franchise in 2023; this year, they announced or premiered several new spin-offs, and they will air the finale of Fear The Walking Dead this fall.

While Fear has wrapped production already, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2 and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live — the Rick and Michonne-focused spin-off — had to pause due to the strike. However, AMC recently reached a temporary deal with SAG-AFTRA to meet their demands; so now, these shows can resume production, as will AMC’s Interview With The Vampire series.

These interim agreements between studios and the unions offer a temporary solution to get shows back on track. In fact, WGA leadership has suggested that individual studios would benefit from negotiating separate deals with the unions, instead of going through the AMPTP organization.

Most of the other projects that have made interim agreements to continue certain aspects of production are independent films; you can check out the full list of SAG-AFTRA’s interim agreements here. These deals can allow cast and crew to get back to work under fairer working conditions, and fans can see their favorite content and characters return sooner.

Walking Dead fans have plenty to look forward to, in TV and the Destinies video game.
