We are now in 2024, and where has the time gone? When entering a new year, there’s always anticipation about what the future might bring, particularly in the entertainment/movie industry, where a plethora of movies is generating hype. You can’t have a good movie without an amazing villain, and there are many villains that are garnering a lot of anticipation. In fact, Deadline.com recently published a Top 5 list regarding the most anticipated movie villains of 2024, and I will be delving into more details about it as it aligns with a list I agree with.
5. Feyd-Rautha in Dune: Part Two
When ‘Dune’ was released in 2021, it stood out as a pretty solid movie, boasting the involvement of numerous notable names. Among these were Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem. Now, adding to this roster, we have Austin Butler set to portray the character of Feyd-Rautha, one of the main villains in the ‘Dune‘ books. I’m intrigued to see how Austin Butler interprets this role, particularly because I admired his performance in the Elvis Presley biopic movie.
4. Aliens from A Quiet Place: Day One
John Krasinski has performed remarkably in his role as a producer and actor in the ‘A Quiet Place‘ movies. I’m genuinely excited about the upcoming film ‘A Quiet Place: Day One.’ This movie is slated as a spin-off or prequel, offering deeper insights into the aliens and the broader storyline. Exploring the events of ‘Day One’ within the A Quiet Place universe, it promises to shed more light on the alien beings and their origins.
3. Arthur Fleck in Joker: Folie à Deux
One of my favorite movies made in 2019 was Joker. Joaquin Phoenix did a phenomenal job in his performance as Arthur Fleck in Joker. I don’t think he was better than Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight, but it is definitely number 2 on the Joker performance list. I wonder how Joaquin will do in the second movie with Harley Quinn added to the mix. Hopefully, he does well, but he is not the most anticipated villain in this movie. That goes to…
2. Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux
The most anticipated villain I’m intrigued by in Joker: Folie à Deux is not the Joker himself, but his love interest Harley Quinn. Particularly intriguing is the actress cast for the role of Harley Quinn—Lady Gaga. Yes, the renowned singer Lady Gaga will portray this character, which is a fascinating choice. Although primarily known as a singer, she’s been an underrated actress. I truly admired her performances in House of Gucci and A Star is Born. If you haven’t seen those movies, I highly recommend them as Lady Gaga delivered exceptional acting in both. It’ll be fascinating to see how she portrays Harley Quinn in this role. Many shouldn’t hastily dismiss this as a poor casting choice. Recall the skepticism when Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker in The Dark Knight. It’ll be interesting to see her take on this character, and who knows, perhaps she’ll even outshine Margot Robbie’s version of Harley Quinn.
1. Beetlejuice in Beetlejuice 2
Absolutely has to be number one. Michael Keaton’s performance in the 1988 movie Beetlejuice remains one of my favorites. He was incredibly hilarious and portrayed the role brilliantly. His acting in that movie was remarkable and showcased his immense talent. Given how fantastic Beetlejuice was, many have wondered if there would ever be a sequel. Recently, news came that a new Beetlejuice movie is in production.
Considering how some new sequels fall short and don’t quite live up to the originals, I’m cautiously optimistic about this new movie. I plan to approach it without specific expectations. Nevertheless, I’m curious to see how Keaton will bring the character to life in 2024. It’s also worth noting that there are certain jokes in the original film that might not fly in today’s context. I hope Keaton delivers another great performance, provided the writers and producers do justice to his character.”
My question is, which Villains are you excited to see in 2024? What is your Top 5 List? Do you agree with my list? Who did I leave out? Let me know in the comment section and don’t forget to give the article a like as well.
