The Legend of Zelda franchise has once again announced another chapter in the series, The Legend of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom. The popular franchise has been around for over 30 years and it continues to be one of the most beloved and popular video game franchises of all time, but that’s not the only reason this game is notable. It’s also, sadly, priced at a whopping $70.
The popular franchise takes you through another epic adventure across the land and skies of Hyrule. In this sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you’ll get to choose your own path and explore Hyrule and the mysterious floating islands high above the skies. In this new chapter, you’ll guide Link to fight back against forces that, once again, threaten the kingdom.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition

Nintendo’s press release for the game on Direct confirmed that the standard version will sell for $70. Physical copies have been previously available for preorder at $60, but the price point has ended amongst all retailers. In addition to the standard version, The Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Collector’s Edition will be released at $130 and includes not only a physical copy of the game but also a concept art book, steel bookcase, steel poster, and a set of four pin badges.
This would make the first-ever Nintendo game hit the $70 level. Nintendo is the latest major gaming company to test the waters on raising the prices of its titles. This follows companies like PlayStation and Xbox, who increased their major releases to $70 with the start of the new generation consoles. Ubisoft and 2K Games are similarly following the same trend.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom is available May 12th exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
