With a new year comes new games, some long-awaited. The continuation of our most beloved stories and characters will surely be explored in the near future, scratching our itches and giving us a sense of purpose in our lives again.

So, if you own an Xbox console, you’re in luck!

Hopefully, the wait was worth it and we’ll receive state-of-the-art animation and a good time when they become available to us addicts.

Dead Island 2

Set to finally release on April 28 of this year, Dead Island 2 is making an appearance after its predecessor from 2011. Developed by Dambuster Studios, this first-person action game is located in Los Angeles overrun by bloodthirsty zombies.

The inclusion of different combat methods like beating, smashing burning, etc. adds a sense of realism to the gameplay as you maneuver through the seemingly endless horde of the walking dead. The addition of cool and humorous characters is the icing on top.

Dead Island 2 will be available to play on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5

Dead Space Remake

Releasing January 27th, the Dead Space Remake is a revamp of Dead Space which was originally released in 2008. Credited as one of the best horror games ever made, the remake has large shoes to fill and high expectations to meet.

Protagonist Isaac Clarke is not a fighter, so it’s all about survival. This makes the game’s atmosphere feel even more sinister and claustrophobic. Searching out items to fight the Necromorphs and avoid being slaughtered is a top priority.

The Dead Space Remake will be available on Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X, as well as PC, and PlayStation 5.

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Hollow Knight: Silksong is the sequel to Hollow Knight, the award-winning game that came out on February 24th, 2017. Over the course of three years, it managed to surpass more than 3 million copies sold. Unique in its development and animation, it’s a 2-D game with fantastic world-building, an excellent sense of atmosphere, intriguing characters, and an interesting art style accompanied by a beautiful score.

You play as Hornet, the protector of Hallownest who finds herself in an unknown location upon awakening. She must uncover the reason behind her mysterious departure and battle powerful foes on her way to the kingdom’s peak.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will be released before July of this year and be available on Xbox Series X/S, as well as PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Hogwarts Legacy:

Based on the best-selling Harry Potter series written by J.K. Rowling, Hogwarts Legacy was developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Predating the timeline of the books, you play as a student attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

There is danger afoot and mysteries to solve with your peers as you wander the halls of the prestigious school. Though, some are not on the same path that you are . . .

Hogwarts Legacy releases on February 10 and will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Redfall:

Based in Redfall, Massachusetts, you are a vagabond named Jacob, who unwittingly gets roped into a small village’s problems. There is a horde of vampires who have blocked out the sun, effectively cutting off any and all communication with the outside world.

Including side missions along with the main story, if you’re partial to it, you can travel to different neighborhoods and liberate the citizens from the undead, essentially extending your gameplay, if you wish.

Redfall is set to release this year and will be available on Xbox Series X/S, as well as on PC.

Resident Evil 4 Remake:

A much more serious rendition of the classic Resident Evil 4 released in 2005, the Resident Evil 4 Remake has some big shoes to fill. Maintaining the storyline from the original, you play as Leon Kennedy tasked with retrieving the President’s daughter, Ashley Graham. She is being held by a malicious religious cult in a dilapidated Spanish village. Oh yeah, and the residents are infested with a plague, causing some interesting, uh . . . side effects.

For us avid fans, we hope the remake can live up to the hype and exceed our expectations with the new changes. Considered a masterpiece by most, myself included, we have high hopes for the reboot.

The Resident Evil 4 Remake is set to release on March 24th and will be available on Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Starfield:

A more free-form approach, Starfield lets players create their own custom character (like in the Elder Scrolls series) before embarking on a journey among the stars in search of the mysteries beyond our solar system. Starfield is developed by Bethesda and is set to release sometime during the first half of 2023.

Starfield will be available on Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

A third-person game also set in outer space, you play as Cal Kestis five years after Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Unfortunately during the hiatus, the galaxy has moved closer and closer to the darkness that threatens to corrupt it. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor like its predecessor is being developed by Respawn Entertainment in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is set to release on March 17 and will be available on Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC, and PlayStation 5.
