Madden is one of the most frustrating sports video games series that I have ever played the past few years. Madden 24 is yet another disappointment where there have been a ton of negatives with this game. However, I have to admit there are some positives in Madden this year. I mean the negatives heavily outweigh the positives, but I can’t ignore that there is some good with this game.

3. Adding More Trade Slots in Franchise Mode

I still think that the trades are broken as hell, but it was a neat add making more trade slots so trades can be a little more realistic. A lot of trades in the old Madden games were so unrealistic as many trades in the NFL take more then 3 assets to move top players. This new trade system helps a lot for players to engage in more complex and realistic trading scenarios, which adds depth and authenticity to the franchise mode experience. If you want more details on the Trade System, I wrote a piece on the website called “New Trade System in Madden 24 Franchise Mode“. The change was much needed and its about time Madden did it.

2. The Return of Training Camp

It’s about time EA Sports brought back Training camp. It was dumb when this got removed, because it removes a realistic part of football today. In Madden a total of 11 mini-games have been added into Madden 24 and they are bullet pointed below.

  • Target Passing (Quarterbacks)
  • Pass Skeleton – Outmanned (Quarterbacks)
  • Rushing Attack (Halfbacks and Fullbacks)
  • WR Battle (Wide Receivers and Tight Ends)
  • WR Battle – Red Zone Attack (Wide Receivers and Tight Ends)
  • Trench Battle – The Long Hall (Defensive Line and Linebackers)
  • Chase and Tackle (Linebackers)
  • DB Battle (Defensive Backs)
  • DB Battle – Red Zone Defense (Defensive Backs)
  • Field Goal Accuracy (Kickers)
  • Coffin Corner (Punters)

I am glad it is back and it give players the opportunity to improve there skills and even earn rewards/upgrades for your players you want to improve. Madden bring this back was defiantly a bright spot and I hope that EA Sports can expand on this in future games.

1. The Combine in Superstar Mode

No question with this one. Say what you want about how much of a mess most modes are in this game, the fact that your player can participate in the NFL’s Scouting Combine has been a request I have wanted for many long years.

The Combine has so many drills to determine a prospect and some of those drills are in this game. There is the Bench Press, the 40 Yard Dash, Broad Jump, 20 Yard Shuttle, Reaction Test, and etc. Heck they even had an Football IQ Test portion as well, although I hate that there is no voice over on it which was a little annoying.

The thing that sucks is that it can only be done in the Superstar Mode, which is a terrible mode in this game. I hope next season Madden can expand the Combine in other modes in the game. Heck maybe even have us the player be in attendance watching prospects run the combine or do a private workout with drills. As long as the Combine is kept in Madden I am okay with it.

See I can write positive articles about Madden. No matter how many cons there are to a game, there are at leas some positives to talk about. Like I said earlier the negatives do out weigh the positives as Madden 24 is still an absolute mess of a game to play. Hopefully EA with the small positives they made can keep featuring them in the game and improve it as a whole.

Now I will ask you reading this, What are your thoughts on the game? Do you have positives with Madden that I did not mention above? Let me know in the comment section and give this article a like as well.

Madden 24 is available to play now on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
