With the smashing success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and the highly anticipated sequel Jedi: Survivor, it’s no surprise that game director Stig Asmussen wants to make the series a trilogy.
February was a rich month for content reveals of the game from IGN. In a recent interview conducted with Asmussen, he reveals how much he would love to make a third game happen. In fact, talks of a third game were already happening while working on Survivor. This was a similar pattern back when they were working on Fallen Order. Below is an excerpt from the interview:
We were already talking about the second game. I mean, frankly, we were talking beyond. And these are conversations that, when we’re breaking this story with Lucasfilm, it’s like: ‘Well, where are we going with the second game?’
I always wanted to see this as a trilogy. How can we take Cal and the crew to new places beyond what we were doing in the first game?
We had a pretty decent idea of timeframe where we wanted Survivor to take place, what the stakes were going to be, what the tone of the game was going to be, what Cal was going to be up against, and how the crew was going to factor into that. And there’s ideas of what we could do beyond that as well.

It’s also notable that Asmussen mentioned that if a third game were to happen, it would make the most sense to use Unreal Engine 5. Fallen Order and Survivor used Unreal Engine 4, with Survivor using the modified, and more modern version of it.
If Jedi Survivor performs well, a third installment is quite likely to happen. It wouldn’t be much of a surprise with all the recent reveals we’ve been receiving. What do you think? Should Star Wars Jedi become a trilogy?
