Remember the days of walking across the entire world of a game? Whether you do or not, there’s no denying fast travel has become a staple of modern games.
And not surprisingly, the lack of fast travel was one of the most heavily criticized aspects of Fallen Order. Although each planet Cal Kestis explores is beautiful and detailed, navigating these beautiful environments was a pain, with both Zeffo and Kashyyk being notable examples.
This left many players wishing for a fast-travel feature.
Well, ask, and you shall receive as the developers have listened and will include this feature in the upcoming sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
The Developer’s Latest Take
The game’s director Stig Asmussen recently commented on the highly requested feature in an issue of Play Magazine.
“We will feature both fast travel and rideable creatures to help players quickly get from point A to B, and back to A,” said Asmussen. “The fast-travel is point to point, and the rideable creatures offer a way to quickly negotiate between points and explore what is in between.”
Although not specified, the fast travel mechanic could be between the meditation circles that act as checkpoints in the previous title.
Fast Travel’s Confirmed — What’s Next?
The inclusion of fast travel and ridable animals are great additions to the game, as they will cut down on the amount of time it takes players to backtrack.
This is undoubtedly a must-have feature, especially considering the likelihood that Jedi: Survivor might be larger in scope than its predecessor.
There are still many questions surrounding the upcoming action-adventure Star Wars title. Stay tuned for more coverage and answers when the game releases on April 28th, 2023, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
