Summer is finally here again. It’s an exciting time for swimming, traveling, and even decorating. We’ve stumbled across a cute project that Star Wars fans can enjoy: DIY wind chimes. When you think of summer, you also think of the breeze, and wind chimes are very popular during this time. So why not create your own to show your love for the beloved franchise?

Kelly Knox, a freelance writer, loves all things Star Wars. She’s also a real wiz when it comes to DIY projects. In her article, she shows us how to create chimes of three of the loveable droids: R2-D2, Chopper, and R5-D4 (a droid that was almost sold to Owen). Here is a list of items required for all three of these cute little chimes:

  • Three clean tin cans
  • Acrylic paint: White, red, silver, royal blue, black, grey, orange, golden yellow, and glow in the dark
  • 6-inch embroidery hoop
  • Grey, white, blue, and black enamel dot stickers
  • Black string
  • Hammer
  • Nail
  • Hot glue gun
  • Small Star Wars vehicle toy
  • Paint brushes

Kelly provides step-by-step instructions on her page. It’s important to note that this activity should always be done with adult supervision.  While the article itself is a bit older, these DIY droid chimes are still very timely.  These projects are especially fun when you can do it with friends or family that love Star Wars as much as you do. If wind charms aren’t particularly up your alley, you can check out her other projects as she has quite a bit!
