Combining PS Plus and PS Now Starting In June

Rumors had abounded for a while, but Sony officially revealed their new subscription service tiers on Tuesday. The move will essentially combine PS Plus and PS now.
Starting in June, players will have access to up to 700+ games for a monthly price. Notably, these 700+ games won’t include first-party releases on day one, a celebrated perk of the Xbox Game Pass service.
Prices range from $9.99 USD monthly for the basic tier which includes no library games, to $17.99 USD monthly for the premium version of the service. The premium version includes over 700 games from the PlayStation, PS2, PS3, PS4, and PSP eras. Depending on the game, they can be played either via download or through cloud streaming.

PlayStation Plus Essential
Benefits
- Provides the same benefits that PlayStation Plus members are getting today, such as:
- Two monthly downloadable games
- Exclusive discounts
- Cloud storage for saved games
- Online multiplayer access
- There are no changes for existing PlayStation Plus members in this tier.
Price* for PlayStation Plus Essential remains the same as the current price for PlayStation Plus.

- Offers cloud streaming access for original PlayStation, PS2, PSP and PS4 games offered in the Extra and Premium tiers in markets** where PlayStation Now is currently available. Customers can stream games using PS4 and PS5 consoles, and PC.***
- Time-limited game trials will also be offered in this tier, so customers can try select games before they buy.

- PlayStation Plus Deluxe (Select Markets) For markets without cloud streaming, PlayStation Plus Deluxe will be offered at a lower price compared to Premium, and includes a catalog of beloved classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP generations to download and play, along with time-limited game trials. Benefits from Essential and Extra tiers are also included. Local pricing will vary by market.
Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated alongside this announcement that including first-party titles at launch could hurt the quality of those games – a statement that should be met with skepticism by even the most ardent of PlayStation fans.
While there is no set release date yet for the PlayStation subscription service, we know it’s coming in June. Sony promised more details as we approach launch.
