Sonic Superstars, Sega’s newest entry in the franchise, has received a new trailer at Gamescom Opening Live, further detailing features hinted in the initial trailer revealed during Summer Game Fest 2023. Here are all the new things announced in the trailer.

Release Date

The release date for Sonic Superstars has been a mystery before Gamescom, and you may want to carve out time in your calendar as Sonic Superstars will be releasing on arguably the most packed month of 2023, releasing on October 13th.

4-Player Campaign and Battle Mode

The story campaign of Sonic Superstars will allow for up to four players on a single screen. There will also be a mode called “Battle Mode,” which will pit customizable robots based on the four main protagonists, Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, and Amy, against each other in a 4-player split screen. According to the official Sega newsletter, the multiplayer mode is playable in both local co-op and online.

An Obscure Sonic Character Returns

Fans of Sonic: Triple Trouble on the Game Gear and the arcade fighting game Sonic The Fighters are in luck, as the official website confirms that Fang the Sniper is one of the protagonists, alongside series staple Dr. Eggman.

Sonic Superstars releases on Epic Game Store, Steam, PlayStation 4/5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One on October 13th.
