Assassin’s Creed will forever be the game series that I grew up with and with the many ups and downs with this franchise, I will never forget this series. However, I admit that each game faces a problem. I thought to myself: Why not go through every game I played and list my biggest problem with each game? As always, I am only going to rank the games I have played including:
- Assassins Creed
- Assassins Creed II
- Assassins Creed Brotherhood
- Assassins Creed Revelations
- Assassins Creed III
- Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag
- Assassins Creed Rouge
- Assassins Creed Unity
- Assassins Creed Syndicate
- Assassins Creed Origins
- Assassins Creed Odyessy
- Assassins Creed Valhalla
So let’s get into it and me giving my biggest problems regarding each Assassin’s Creed Game.
Assassin’s Creed – The Missions Are A Bit Too Repetitive

Source: Ubisoft
Now I am a bit lenient looking back at problems with the game as it was made in 2007. I was going to put the weird camera angles with cut scenes on here, but because it is an older game I will let it slide. The issue I won’t ignore is how repetitive the missions got. All the missions were focused on was: going to a city/location, doing a bunch of meaningless side missions, unlocking a target, assassinating them, and repeat. Besides that though I still enjoy this game a lot.
Assassin’s Creed II – Missions Can’t Be Replayed Without Restarting The Game

Source: Ubisoft
Gosh, can I skip this one? Especially as Assassin’s Creed II is absolutely perfect. I guess I can through one nitpick, It sucks that missions can’t be replayable unless you play the game from start again. Besides that, I really can’t find a massive problem with the game.
Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood – What Happened To The Missing Characters From The Last Game?

Source: Ubisoft
Can I skip this one also? Especially as it is the best game in the series. This is what I would like to call a perfect Assassin’s Creed game and I just don’t know if I have a true problem that is focused on the game. I guess as a bit of a nitpick: Whatever happened to the missing assassins that were in the last game? Including Antonio de Magianis, Teodora Contanto, Rosa, and Paola. Besides that, I really can’t think of a problem.
Assassin’s Creed Revelations – The Terrible Tower Defense Segments

Source: Ubisoft
Revelations is a fine end to the Ezio Trilogy and even Altair’s story, but it is not as great as Assassin’s Creed 2 along with Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. I’d compare this game to what The Dark Knight Rises was in the Dark Knight Trilogy. A good move, but not as great as the others.
There are a few glaring problems with the game, but the biggest one to me is the terrible tower defense segments of the game. My goodness, it was such a mess to play and it was so unnecessary. Luckily in the main story, you only had to play it one time, but when trying to complete 100% of the game, it was such an absolute chore to complete the tower defense segments.
Assassin’s Creed III – Killing Desmond Miles

Source: Ubisoft
I have heard a lot of people say that the biggest problem with the game is with Connor Kenway and the main character not being great. However, I disagree with that 100% because I actually like Connor Kenway in this game and don’t understand why people hate him. The biggest problem in my opinion was killing Desmond Miles. The modern world story has never been the same and has been lacking in the past few Assassin’s Creed games. Ubisoft has tried to improve it in the past few games, but it has not worked out well. In fact, I don’t disagree with those that say that killing Desmond Miles was the moment Assassin’s Creed jumped the Shark.
Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag – Too Many Tailing Missions

Source: Ubisoft
I will ask again, Can I please skip this game also? Ok, I will be honest: There is one main glaring problem with this game and almost every gamer would agree with me. There are way too many tailing missions in this game. They are too long and too many which kind of drags this awesome game a bit. While that is a problem, I strongly recommend that you play this game.
Assassin’s Creed Rouge – The Game Felt Too Similar to Black Flag Excluding The Pirate Theme

Source: Ubisoft
There are many that hate this game a lot and I just don’t understand why because I really like this game. I even wanted a game like this one where an Assassin goes rogue. However, what plagued this game was that it had a low budget and it resulted in them copying and pasting Black Flag mechanics in here. The only difference was that Rouge was not pirate themed. That to me was the biggest problem as it felt like more DLC or “Assassin’s Creed Black Flag 2” in my opinion.
Assassin’s Creed Unity – This Game Was Rushed And Released Far Too Early

Source: Ubisoft
Ahh, Assassin’s Creed Unity. What could have been? There are a lot of problems with the game. The glitches, lackluster story, and many more issues. They can all be tied up to one reason alone: This game was released way too early. I still to this day don’t understand why they released Rouge and Unity on the same date. They should have delayed Unity, cleaned up the glitches, and made the story make sense. This game would have changed Assassin’s Creed for the good. Like I said earlier: What could have been?
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – The Combat is a Mess

Source: Ubisoft
There are a lot of problems that I have with Syndicate and to me, this was the most disappointing game as I wanted them to make a game on the Industrial Revolution. There are so many issues including the story, characters, gang wars, trying to make Alexander Graham Bell into Leonardo Da Vinci, that gosh darn grappling hook which was a terrible idea from the get-go, and many more.
My biggest problem is how awful the combat is in this game. All the combat is focused on is spamming x through the entire game with maybe a hit of hitting b to counter and sometimes the combat can get extremely messy. Compared to Unity the combat is such a fall from what it was.
Assassin’s Creed Origins – The Pacing Can Get Messy

Source: Ubisoft
This was the last Assassin’s Creed game that I truly loved playing. I love how they wrote Bayek’s character going from Medjay to Assassin and making the origins story of the Creed. Even though the RPG games have not been the greatest in Assassin’s Creed, this game does it really well. My biggest problem with the game is that the pacing is a bit of a mess and that is largely to do with the RPG style. I can’t play certain segments unless I have leveled up which kind of dampers the story a bit. However, the game is still great and I wish they did better with the other two games.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – It Betrays The Lore Of Assassin’s Creed

Source: Ubisoft
Yeah, I was contemplating saying everything, but this game is so beautiful that I can’t do that. However, one thing you can’t deny is that this game destroys the lore of Assassin’s Creed so much. I have a more detailed explanation in my article Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: 10 Reasons Why It’s The Worst In the Series, but this game is poorly marketed and you are not playing as an Assassin. You are playing as a mercenary, rarely an Assassin’s Creed robe and there is NO HIDDEN BLADE IN ASSASSIN’S CREED!!! Like I said: whoever’s idea it was to get rid of that in this game should be banned from making another Assassin’s Creed game ever again. Gosh, this game is horrendous.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – The Game Is Way Too Long

Source: Ubisoft
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is not a great game in my opinion, but compared to Odyssey it is a bit better. However, while it is a bit of an improvement, there is just one problem, the game was way too long.
If you want to complete the main gameplay, well for me it legit took 70-90 hours for me to complete just the main mission. There are many that say this was a 60.5-hour main mission game, I call absolute nonsense on that as there is no way you can complete all of the main missions in this game for that long. If you want to complete every collectible and get 100% completion it will legit take you 140-175 hours of gameplay to do it. That is just insanely long and It really is a chore to complete it.
Conclusion
So those are the major problems that I have with each Assassin’s Creed game that I have played. Overall though there are a lot of games I like to play in this series despite their issues. Well, excluding Odyssey as that game is an absolute disgrace. Hopefully, Ubisoft does the right thing by making Assassin’s Creed Mirage a fun game with little problems.
