It’s been almost five years since Spider-Man first came swinging out of the PS4. Now, fans eagerly awaiting a release date for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 can catch up with Peter, Miles, and Mary-Jane. A prequel comic written by Christos Gage with art from Ig Guara is available to read for free. Gage and Guara’s story picks up threads from Marvel’s Spider-man: Mile Morales, with Peter and M.J. struggling to return to their lives in New York.

The Hood, Spider-Man’s latest nemesis, is introduced as the chief antagonist, suggesting a supernatural facet to the upcoming game. The comic is a standalone story. However, readers who have played the Spider-Man games will recognize references to previous events. No word yet from Insomniac on a release date Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, though it’s rumored that we’ll be battling The Hood in fall 2023.

A remastered version of Marvel’s Spider-Man hit PS4 and Windows digital storefronts in late 2022. Gamers with a copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PS4 can choose to purchase an upgrade for the PS5.

The comic is available to read now at Marvel’s website or on the Marvel Unlimited app. Swing into your local comic book store to snag a physical copy.
