Welcome to Madden Tips — a series where I give advice and solid tips on the popular sports video game focused on Madden 23. This time, I will focus on how to do the QB Slide when a QB runs for the first down.
What is a Quarterback Slide?
In Football, the Quarterback can declare themselves down by either falling to the ground, kneeling, running out of bounds, or sliding. When a QB Slides the ball is play is then declared dead
Why do Quarterbacks Slide?

This is a simple answer. The Quarterback slides for strategic reasons of player safety and to keep the clock running during games. It is much safer to slide than getting tackled or pushed out of bounds, as they usually avoid contact with defenders. The best part is that the clock can keep running, which is a brilliant way to kill time during games.
So, How do you do a QB Slide in Madden?
All you have to do is double tap the X button for Xbox, Square Button for PlayStation, and Q for PC.
That is it and it is pretty simple to do. My advice is for Xbox and PlayStation users is to not hold the Left Trigger or L2. If you do that then the QB is going to do a dive instead of the QB Slide.
When is the best time to do the QB Slide in the game?
Honestly, I would do it any time you feel a defender will tackle the QB. Doing this slide in the game avoids a severe injury to the QB. It is best to be safe than sorry, so I often either run out of bounds or slide if the defender is going to tackle my player.
Madden 23 is available to play now on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
