Playstation has had some pretty fantastic collaborations. Now, NBA fans can get excited about their recently announced partnership with basketball star LeBron James (who has recently passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time scoring leader).
LeBron has teamed up through the Playstation Playmakers program. This is a recently established program that creates a dynamic network of different actors, athletes, and content creators who have a passion for video games. They get to show that passion and love by creating special PlayStation products.
LeBron’s designs pay tribute to his charity: I Promise; a foundation in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, dedicated to helping children in public school. Different limited-edition pieces contain accents and wording like “Nothing Is Given. Everything is Earned.” Not only that, but the design also includes an image of a crown, symbolizing how LeBron is often known as “King James.”
LeBron shared a heart-touching sentiment about the collaboration here:
“It’s still crazy to think a kid from Akron who grew up playing games is getting to create something like this. Designing a console cover and controller with PlayStation that gives a nod to my “I Promise” students and where we come from is a pretty cool thing. I hope it’s something that continues to inspire everyone who touches it, and that they have a little fun finding meaning in every detail.
While the price has yet to be released, you can preorder this special PS5 cover and controller later on this year through PlayStation Direct.
