Starfield has been a tremendous game since its release a few weeks ago. There is so much involved in this massive open-world game; however, there are still a few important things that Starfield does not tell you about. So, I’ve put together a list of the top 5 most important things to know before playing Bethesda’s space RPG.

5. Option to Customize your Loading Screen

This was something cool when I first found out this was a thing. In Starfield, you can take many cool photos of outer space, planets, characters, etc. Did you know that your screenshot photos can be on your game’s loading screens? To do that, once you take a screenshot, go to the Photo Gallery (located in the pause menu) and select which screenshots you would like to see when your game is loading.

This is so creative and I wish more games would do this. Starfield doing this really makes there game standout and make there screenshots more valuable.

4. You can Sell Survey Data

Throughout this game, you can survey multiple things on every planet. Did you know that there is a way to make extra money doing this, as you can sell your Survey Data? It can fetch a lot of credits if you sell them at the right time and place, which could help you buy valuable weapons and items. I recommend not selling them to regular merchants immediately; if you progress through the story, you can sell this data for more money.

3. Sleeping Can Give you XP.

Did you know that you will get a 10% XP Bonus for 24 in-game hours if you get extra rest? That is an easy way to get points to upgrade your character. The best part is you won’t have to travel far to find a bed as there is one easily located on your ship by the Constellation Lodge. Sleep is essential, and I am glad that Starfield rewards you if your character is well-rested.

2. Different Space Ports are going to have Different Ship Upgrades

To upgrade your ships in Starfield, you have to go to space ports. Luckily, there are multiple different ports around the universe. The game does not stress that spaceports on different planets will have different upgrades to your ships. I recommend researching and studying every terminal and port before deciding when to upgrade your ship. I would also stock up on resources to afford the upgrades and spend on other essential weapons and items.

1. The Scanner does more than Scan

When playing, your character holds a scanner, a handy tool called a Scanner. This tool does not just scan and can be used for many other things. The scanner can also help guide you to quests and fast-travel to specific places on the map. If you want to know how to fast travel using a scanner, luckily, there is an article I previously wrote called “How to Fast Travel in Starfield.”
