Gaming’s largest event, E3 was canceled in 2023 until at least 2025 due to several factors. Chief among them are the Pandemic, several security issues, and a change in how companies convey information, like the Sony State of Play and Nintendo Directs. Geoff Keighley took up the mantle with his event, Summer Games Fest, which will have its fourth annual showing with several presentations. This year’s event will have 55 companies, from Indie developers to AAA. Here are all the Summer Game Fest events this year.

Playstation State of Play

SGF starts unofficially on May 30th with the PlayStation State of Play at 6 PM ET / 3 PM PT. Sony is tight-lipped about the presentation. The presentation will be over 30 minutes long and contain news about 14 upcoming PS5 and PSVR2 titles.

Guerrilla Collective

The Guerilla Collective is an indie game showcase that began in 2020 and debuted highly regarded games like Roki. Last year’s two-and-a-half-hour presentation revealed Astergos: Curse of the Stars and Symphony of War.

The Guerrilla Collective will be on June 6th, at 1 pm ET.

Summer Games Fest Live

The kick-off event, hosted by Geoff Keighley, has a mix of updates to previously announced games and new announcements. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Mortal Kombat 1 were a couple of games announced at last year’s show.

The event is expected to have a wide variety of games from various Third Parties, and potentially even exclusives from PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox. Keighley always brings out guests from pop-culture and gaming, so expect a few cameos.

Summer Games Fest’s kick-off event starts on June 7th, at 5 pm ET / 2 pm PT.

Day of the Devs

Immediately after Keighley’s main show, Double Fine and Iam8bit will host their twelfth annual indie showcase. Several high-profile games have debuted throughout the history of the event, such as Toem: A Photo Adventure and Road 96.

Devolver Direct

Devolver Digital 2024 Showcase

Later that evening, The indie publisher, Devolver Digital, is celebrating the company’s 15th anniversary with their presentation, called “Volvy’s 15th birthday”. Volvy is the publisher’s joke mascot created for last year’s event. Devolver Digital’s satirical take on showcases often rifts on hot-button issues within the industry, including microtransactions and the use of AI. Regarding announcements, last year’s presentation revealed Wizard with a Gun and sequels to Humans Fall Flat and The Talos Principle.

Devolver Direct 2024 will be on June 7th at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT.

This year’s event will air on June 8th at 3 PM ET/noon PT.

Wholesome Direct

Wholesome Games started a Nintendo Direct-style presentation in 2020, highlighting indie games aimed towards being relaxing and the perfect distresser. Prior showcases have debuted simulator-type games, among other genres low on violence. One of the most successful game releases from the prior showcases is 2021’s Unpacking, by Witch Beam.

The Wholesome Direct starts on June 8th, at Noon ET / 9 am PT.

Latin American Games Showcase

A new hour-long presentation by Devolver Digital and Raw Fury will show over seventy indie games developed by individuals with a Latin American background. While this is the first time The Latin American Games Showcase has been a part of SGF, it isn’t their first rodeo. The newest presentation at SGF is the Women-Led Games Showcase, aimed to highlight all-female development teams. Xbox Games Showcase + Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Direct

On the heels of Xbox closing veteran studios Arcane Austin and Tango Gameworks, Xbox Game Studios still has a few previously announced titles that could be at their showcase. Fans are hoping for Perfect Dark remake and the Fable reboot. As for the Black Ops 6 Direct, it has now been confirmed that Activision will unveil the new Call of Duty title, and could add past Call of Duty titles to Xbox Game Pass. Pre-Order editions and bonuses for this years Call Of Duty have already leaked, and are expected to go live officially after the Direct. The event starts at 1 pm ET / 3 PM PT and will be two hours long.

PC Gaming Show

The PC Gaming Show’s 10th annual event, hosted by Sean “Day[9]” Plott and Frankie Ward will show off upcoming PC titles and new hardware. In what is normally the longest stream of SGF, the PC Gaming Show has exclusive developer interviews and giveaways.

Ubisoft Forward

Ubisoft’s annual Summer Showcase will be premiering on June 10th TBD. While nothing is official yet, they will likely show off more details about the several Assassin’s Creed projects announced during the 15th-anniversary livestream last year, such as the recently announced Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Jade. The long-awaited Assassins Creed Infinity is largely a mystery, but has been confirmed to be a central hub connecting each upcoming game a-la Call Of Duty HQ.

Considering what else Ubisoft has in the pipeline, there will likely be another trailer for Star Wars Outlaws. We’d expect to see some updates on XDefiant post launch content as well. Aside from that, it’s a mystery, but Strangely Awesome Games will be covering the presentation live.

Nintendo Direct

The last presentation during the Summer Game Fest period is a Nintendo Direct. The President of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, confirmed in a tweet this will happen sometime in June. Nintendo has many things forthcoming, including Metroid Prime 4 and Hollow Knight: Silksong. Both have been in limbo since their development started in 2017 and 2019.

A specific date has not been confirmed, but this article will be updated once that info is available.

The Strangely Awesome Gamescast crew will be live reacting to the Summer Games Fest Live, Xbox Games Showcase, Black Ops 6 Direct, and Ubisoft Forward on our YouTube channel.
