EA Sports PGA Tour is about to come out and I am very excited to see how the game will play. I’m also curious to see if there will be any improvement in the game, especially in Career modes. As far as I’m concerned there are three main ways EA Sports PGA Tour can improve Golf Career Modes in the game:

#1: Injuries Matter

The one thing that I really don’t understand when playing Career Modes in EA Golf games is how they handle injuries. Yes, I know it is hard to believe that in a sport like golf, you can in fact be injured and it can effect the way that you play throughout the tournament.

A common example of injuries in Golf was with Tiger Woods when he had his knee/back spasm injuries when they reached the final round of The Barclays in 2013. Just look at the video below to see how off his swing was. The pain was so bad he dropped to his knees.

Even though it does not look like it, you can get hurt playing golf, and playing with those injuries is very challenging to do. What I don’t understand is how injuries have basically been super rare to have in the game and it simply has to change. Injuries can’t just be ignored or rarely seen in these games and I hope they add this aspect to Career Modes to make the experience more realistic.

#2: Upgrading PGA Tour Caddies

Caddies are the people that carry the player’s bags/clubs and give them valuable advice. They are an important part of the real-life golf game, however, I just don’t see their importance being high in video games.

I hope that they implement the possibility of upgrading them throughout Career Modes and the more they get upgraded, the more options for players to have when trying to hit the ball in the hole. It should be important to have the caddie grow as well as the player.

#3: Hot Streaks & Slumps for Games that Hinder Performances

No matter what sport you play, there will be some athletes that are on a hot streak playing multiple great games back to back, and others that are in slumps having multiple low-performance games. Either way, it affects the morale of the player and thus is a chain reaction to how well they perform.

It happens in Golf a lot as well and it has seemingly been absent in a lot of EA PGA games. Adding this element to the game would be pretty neat and add another layer of realism to the game.

I’d like to see these games improve with every iteration and shake things up a bit, once in a while. We’ll just have to wait patiently till the game comes out to see what they have done with Career Modes.
