For the past few weeks, I have been trying to conquer one of my goals for 2023… playing games that I normally wouldn’t play. One of those games is Hogwarts Legacy and it’s mainly because I’m not a big Harry Potter fan. To be honest I have enjoyed playing this game and I noticed a lot of players are having a tough time trying to catch a Phoenix. So, here is a little guide to show you how.
Requirements to unlock Phoenix Quest (Catching the Pheonix)
Before you have the ability to catch a Phoenix and unlock the quest I have some bad news, there are requirements that must happen before you can do this. You’ll have to:
- Finish Niamh Fitzgerald’s Trial main quest.
- Complete all of Deek the house elf’s side quests
Once you do all of that it unlocks the ability to catch a Phoenix through a quest and to catch a Phoenix.
How to Catch the Phoenix

For this to be easily read I have decided to list the steps in numeric order of how I did it:
Step 1: Head to Poidsear Castle (Pictured on the Map Above)
Step 2: Enter the Phoenix Mountain Cave (Pictured on the Map Above)
Step 3: Battle several spiders and poacher enemies in the area
Step 4: Phoenix Appears and you have to continue finding it until you spot it again
Step 5: Cast the Nab-Sack Spell and it will Enter the container

And that’s pretty much it. Heck, you don’t even need to mash buttons when trying to get the Phoenix, which I found surprising. Time to grab your own Phoenix, have fun.
Hogwarts Legacy is available on PC, PS4/5, Xbox One & Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
