Baseball season is upon us once again, and that means it’s time to gear up for yet another edition of MLB The Show! Let’s cover what has already been announced and what is yet to be revealed from the team at San Diego Studios.

What We Know

SDS has already chosen a Cover Athlete for MLB The Show 24. Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is the latest young superstar to feature as the face of this year’s edition. Fans have also been given a release date for this year’s collector’s edition of the game- March 15th- with a worldwide release of March 19th.

Xbox Gamepass users have enjoyed access to the game for a few years now, and now SDS is offering an add-on bundle called the Negro Leagues Edition for those with Gamepass who purchased the MVP Edition for $84.99. Priced at an extra $39.99, Xbox users who purchase this add-on can obtain 20,000 Stubs, 2 Diamond Choice Packs, 5 Gold Choice Packs, 20 The Show Packs, 1 Equipment Pack, 1 Cover Athlete Bat Skin, and Double Daily Rewards right from the jump. The collector’s edition this year will provide buyers with four days of early access, a Negro Leagues Limited Edition Physical Steelbook, as well as a slick Negro Leagues cap, providing players with some physical incentives for buying the game early. The Negro Leagues Edition is also available to Playstation users for full price at $124.99

Speaking of the Negro Leagues, SDS announced The Negro Leagues mode is returning to MLB The Show 24, along with a second Season which figures to function similarly to last year’s Negro League feature which had a really neat storyline and added some depth to the single player side of the game. This edition will also include the first female player to be included in an MLB The Show game. Legendary players like Josh Gibson and Toni Stone appear to have their own storylines in their first appearances in MLB The Show.

Still to Come

Player Ratings for current MLB players have yet to be revealed, and there is a targeted date of March 7th to shed more light on traits and attributes of players like newly minted LA Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Players saw some controversial changes last year with MLB The Show‘s popular online mode Diamond Dynasty with the introduction of Sets and Seasons, and it remains to be seen if they will return for this year’s game.

There are two other dates slated for reveals of new or returning features, March 7th and March 14th. There will also be a Developer Tourney on March 13th, which typically gives SDS the chance to connect with the competitive player base in a live setting.
