Final Fantasy 16 has everything from a compelling storyline and interesting characters to a gorgeous musical score and innovative graphics. It’s no wonder the game is being hailed as a masterpiece. While it takes players on an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end, the finale is especially moving. The story leaves off on a bittersweet note that you won’t be able to stop thinking about for days.

Since Final Fantasy is an anthology series, the ending hits even harder once you remember that we likely won’t be seeing any Final Fantasy 16 characters again unless Square Enix announces a DLC. So, if you did finish the game and are having trouble saying goodbye to the world of Valisthea, then maybe it’s time for you to start new game plus. Why should you choose it over a standard new game? Keep reading for more details.

What Carries Over In New Game Plus?

Final Fantasy 16 New Game Plus

Once you finish Final Fantasy 16, you’ll get the option to experience the story from the beginning again with new game plus. While a standard new game means players start entirely from scratch, new game plus retains your level, unlocked abilities, gear, and items from a previously completed playthrough into your next playthrough. Your potion capacity and healing upgrades also carry over in new game plus.

What Is Final Fantasy Mode?

Enemy levels stay the same in new game plus, so fighting them can be pretty easy, especially since you’re able to use all of your upgrades from a previously completed playthrough. In order to make new game plus more challenging, players can choose to experience the game in Final Fantasy mode rather than the story-focused or action-focused modes.

In Final Fantasy mode, enemies have higher levels and stats that make them harder to take down. Alternative enemies are also placed in dungeons to make players’ gaming experience feel fresh. To help you fight these more powerful enemies, Clive’s level cap goes up from 50 to 100. You’re also able to further enhance your equipment, as well as buy and craft new gear, like the Ultima Weapon.

That’s all there is to know about new game plus in Final Fantasy 16!

Final Fantasy 16 is available now on PS5.
