Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks recently took to the airwaves to showcase some new games in production for the Xbox Series X/S and PC. During the live stream, the developers were given an opportunity to talk about their upcoming projects. The 44-minute showcase introduced us to some old favorites, a new IP, a surprise release from the developers of The Evil Within, and some very cool offices. Without further ado, let’s talk about every game that was announced during the Xbox Developer Direct.

Minecraft Legends

Minecraft Legends is the latest addition to the Minecraft lineup. Developed by Mojang and Blackbird Interactive, Legends takes players in a new direction. Focused more on action and strategy, Legends will have players teaming up in a new story-driven co-op mode or PVP to create and defend a fortress while attempting to destroy their opponent’s fortress. Although the developers are moving into a new genre territory, they’ve kept staples of the franchise alive such as procedurally generated maps, resource gathering, and building.

Minecraft Legends will be coming to PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on April 18th, 2023.

Forza MotorSport

Turn 10 Studios is at the helm of Forza’s 8th installment, Forza Motorsport. Motorsport boasts some serious technical upgrades. First, an enhanced physics engine for more realistic movement and driving mechanics.

Second, better graphics including realistic dirt accumulation. Finally, higher quality sound design for better immersion. With over 500 vehicles available at launch and 20 environments to drive through, Forza Motorsport is the biggest Forza game so far.

Forza Motorsport releases on PC and Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2023.

Hi-Fi Rush

Hi-Fi Rush is a rhythm action game from Tango Gameworks, better known for their work on The Evil Within franchise. This time around, Tango has brought us a vibrant and playful action game. Hi-Fi Rush follows Chai, a ‘cool’ guy with a robot arm that likes the guitar.

He is being hunted by an evil corporation and there is an mp3 player in his chest. It’s our job to help Chai escape with the power of rock. Or at least, its rhythms. The combat relies on the soundtrack’s beat to carry the flow of battle. Hitting your attacks on the beat means more damage and better combos. Mixed with a unique sci-fi setting and gorgeous art style, Hi-Fi Rush looks like a breath of fresh air.

Hi-Fi Rush can be played right now! Available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.

Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom

Every year Elder Scrolls Online’s vast content is upgraded with a new expansion. This year’s expansion is Necrom. This new chapter in ESO’s history comes packed with new quests, new companions, and a new environment to explore. Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom also introduces a new class, the Arcanist.

Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom releases June 5th, 2023 on PC and June 20th, 2023 on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

Redfall

Redfall continues Arkane’s trend of semi-open world fps games by setting you loose on Redfall Island, Massachusetts. You control one of four characters in a single-player or multiplayer story mode in a fight against vampires. My favorite kind of fight. Players will explore the island gunning down vampires and helping survivors.

Redfall will be available on PC and Xbox Series X/S on May 2nd, 2023.

And that concludes our list. Stay tuned for more updates on these games soon!
