Making a most welcome release in the summer of 2023, Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons is a new addition to the franchise. Developed by Secret Base and published by Modus Games, the Double Dragon franchise is still going strong after its first release in 1987, and the latest release way back in 2017. The year is 199X. When deadly gang members invade New York City, as well as a nuclear war causing even more pandemonium and destruction, brothers Billy and Jimmy Lee feel the call to defend their city from utter annihilation.

With 13 characters to choose from, each with their own fighting style, strengths, and weaknesses, it is your responsibility to best all of the criminals lurking in your city so peace can reign once again. Whatever missions you intend on completing will affect the length and outcome of the ending in combination with the characters you choose. As the story progresses, you must make the decisions as to when and what to upgrade as the enemies increase in difficulty and overall strength. To make the experience even better, join up with a friend and save the city together.
