Diablo 4 is one of this year’s biggest games with a large open world that opens up after the opening sequence. With 5 regions and 309 different locations, there are many places for you to explore as you are questing and completing activities throughout the story and during your grind. An important aspect of traversing through the open world is being able to fast travel to areas you have already been as this can cut out around 5-10 minutes of monotonously walking or running to your destination. This is made possible with the waypoint mechanic that has also been featured in previous titles in the Diablo franchise.

Traveling to waypoints through the use of fast travel has helped me turn in quests, quickly go to a vendor to sell items in order to make room in my inventory, and much more. Discovering these landmarks will grant you a point on the map to fast travel to as well as some renown. Here is a quick guide on how these waypoints can be found.

Spotting Waypoints

Diablo 4 Waypoint and Portal

Waypoints are usually found at important destinations throughout the open world. They are noticeable as they have three blue flames emanating around a circle that you can stand on in the middle of towns or other destinations. Interacting with this will cause the circle to glow, and it will then be activated as an icon on the world map. On the map, they show up as a blue emblem, the same color as it looks in the world, that looks like a circle with a triangle inside of it.

In order to quickly travel to these points, all you have to do is open the map, move the cursor to the glowing blue icon you want to go to, and click or press whichever button you are prompted to. This can be done from anywhere on the map as opposed to some previous titles that only allow you to travel from waypoint to waypoint. Fast traveling back to these locations by using the map will leave a portal by the waypoint that will allow you to go back to the spot you just fast traveled from if you wish to do so.

There are 35 waypoints to discover in this game, which means there are about 6 to 8 in each of the 5 regions. With that, good luck on finding these points, and hopefully they serve you well on your travels.

Diablo 4 is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
