After more than a decade since the release of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls in 2012, we’ve been patiently waiting for our next demon-infested adventure in the world of Sanctuary. Diablo 4 is so close that we can almost taste it but we’ll have to wait just a little bit more.

There is much to discover about the sequel and what the game has to offer. New characters, the continuation of a now infamous storyline, and of course an immersive gameplay experience.

Here’s everything that Blizzard has shared sofar.

What is Diablo 4’s Release Date?

It’s been a long time coming but our prayers (to Tyrael) have finally been answered. Diablo 4 is confirmed to release on June 6th (6/6… where is the third 6?). Developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, known for some of gaming’s most iconic franchises, including one of my personal favorites; StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty (2010).

My expectations are definitely high.

Diablo 4 Trailer:

Done in absolutely pristine animation, the trailer is surprisingly devoid of too much revealing information. Though from the video we can see a woman emerge into a location that looks a lot like the Devil’s playground, with hideous creatures snarling at you in rage and hatred.

Then, the camera pans to Inarius – the Archangel of The High Heavens (the being in the hooded cloak with his face concealed by darkness) – commanding his soldiers to hold strong as they defend against hellish demons.

He zeroes in on Lilith – the Daughter of Hatred – and slowly lowers himself among the disgusting creatures, uncaring that he is completely surrounded. As his feet touch the ground, the hellish beings cower in fear and do not attack him, sensing the immense power resonating within him. With deadly accuracy, he releases a spear in her direction at an alarming speed before the screen goes dark.

Well then. That sure is one way to get your audience excited, as if they weren’t already.

If you’re partial to it and just love the Diablo series so far, they’ve created something just for you to enjoy in the meantime.

What are the Diablo 4 Classes?

Diablo 4 will have a total of 5 classes for gamers to explore and enjoy. These classes all have their own playstyle with their own strengths and weaknesses. These classes are:

  • Barbarian
  • Druid
  • Sorceress
  • Rogue
  • Necromancer

As a Barbarian, you play as a heavy-duty warrior who excels in strength and defense. You can switch between a good amount of weapons although there is a lack of complexity, focusing more on basic commands and attacks. Barbarians are great for players who aren’t too worried about putting points into creating strategies.

Druids are known for their shape-shifting capabilities, transforming from a human to a Werebear and then to a Werewolf. Its powers are magic based but certain types of magic are reduced to a specific form, substantially limiting the range of its abilities.

The Sorceress relies mainly on elemental magic but is in serious trouble when it comes to any kind of physical combat. A long-distance fighter, for sure. The use of lightning, fire, and cold can be used against the enemies on the battlefield in the form of combos to deal the most damage.

The Rogue is a stealth assassin, using its quick movement coupled with smooth transitions between weapons to their advantage. Their weapons include daggers, swords, crossbows, ranged bows, etc.

And finally, the Necromancer uses different styles of combat and can absorb a fallen enemy’s skills. Their weapons of choice include swords, wands, daggers, shields, and focuses.

Diablo 4 Game-play Explained

Diablo 4 features an open world with an almost endless amount of abilities exclusive to your class, demons from hell whose only objective is to destroy you, places to explore with your comrades, and terrifying nightmares that you must fight to preserve the world of Sanctuary.

Learn extensively about the list of classes I mentioned above to defend against your enemies, taking into consideration the pros and cons of such a choice. Track Lilith through Sanctuary and eliminate the “hatred” permeating the lands and establish a sense of peace and harmony once again.

Where Does the Diablo 4 Story Pick Up?

Taking place directly after Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, Diablo 4 follows several decades later. Due to the decisions of the High Heavens and Burning Hells, millions of innocent civilians were decimated, linking their deaths to Lilith, the daughter of Mephisto.

The storyline continues in Diablo 4 as Inarius continues to pursue Lilith across the realms and finally succeeds in destroying her. Filled with bosses and enemies to confront, hidden areas to discover, and towns to liberate, you will surely experience much out of this game-play if you choose to go off the path every once in a while.

Hopefully, the extended hiatus was all they needed to polish up some final aspects of the game and we’ll get a real banger this coming summer because of it. Fingers crossed for an epic experience that will leave everyone satisfied.
