There’s nothing more frustrating in Destiny 2 than mistiming a glide and plummeting helplessly to your death. Fall damage is unforgiving. Thankfully, the devs over at Bungie feel the same way.
Exploring Destiny 2 by leaping and gliding great distances is a staple of Destiny 2. However, this world is as dangerous as it is beautiful, and getting too close to a large enemy might send your Guardian hurtling into a wall. Both of these scenarios might end your Guardian’s Light, but that will soon change.
Now, I’m Free Fallin’

Starting with the release of Lightfall, collision damage will no longer kill Guardians outright. Instead, Guardians will drop to 1 HP. However, fall damage will still knock you out cold until a mid-season update makes that change. If you’re interested in reading the announcement from Bungie, you can find it here.
Nerfing fall damage alongside Lightfall’s release is fantastic timing. Navigating skyscrapers is sure to come with plenty of fall damage, so eliminating the sting of instadeath is a relief. Not to mention, gameplay videos of Lightfall show Guardians swinging around the map utilizing the new subclass, Strand. Accidentally killing yourself by flying into a wall doesn’t make for a good subclass.
