Deadpool 3 is set up to be pretty big, with Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine in Ryan Reynolds’ third film as the Merc with a Mouth. Though, it appears that new rumors are circulating the feature that more characters will be appearing in the movie than we initially thought.

In May, it was reported that James Marsden, Famke Jansen, and Halle Berry will return in Deadpool 3 as Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm, respectively. After seeing the likes of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield return as their Spider-Men and act alongside the MCU’s Tom Holland in Spider-Man: No Way Home and seeing Patrick Stewart return as Prof. X in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, this type of news is pretty believable.

Now, it’s rumored that Ben Affleck will be reprising his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil from his 2003 film directed by Mark Steven Johnson, widening the cast to include a reunion of 20th Century Fox’s Marvel movies.

Affleck Returning to Daredevil?

According to @TheComixKid, known as KC Walsh, on Twitter, he has no clue who Ben Affleck is playing in the movie — just that he’s been spotted on set for the threequel that began principal photography in the United Kingdom last month. Walsh acknowledged in a later tweet that it’s likely that he’s returning as Daredevil, though it’s hard today without any confirmation.

Now, it’s possible that Affleck was just on set to visit, though given that most of the original heroes from the original X-Men trilogy are rumored to return, it wouldn’t be a big surprise if Affleck’s Daredevil, a fellow Fox-era hero, is going to cross paths with the Merc with a Mouth.

Deadpool 3 Will Have ALL The Returns

2003’s Daredevil saw Ben Affleck don the red cowl and go toe-to-toe with Michael Clarke Duncan’s Kingpin and Colin Farrell’s Bullseye. It met with mixed reviews, with most citing that it was dull and too brooding. A year later, a director’s cut was released that put unseen footage back into the movie, which included an entire sub-plot and gave the film an R rating.

Kevin Feige, known for spearheading the MCU, worked on the Fox/Marvel era and stated at the time that the director’s cut would win fans over. Indeed, the 2004 version of the film is regarded as one of the best examples of a director’s cut being a better version of a superhero film — boding well for a reappearance by Affleck’s Daredevil in Deadpool 3.

Deadpool 3 is currently slated for a May 3rd, 2024 release.
