With Ahsoka premiering on Disney+ on Tuesday, August 22 — less than two weeks now! — the countdown has begun. It’s time to figure out what to watch in preparation. Okay, okay, that may sound like homework, but trust me when I write you’ll be better off doing at least the bare minimum.

Now, ideally, Dave Filoni and his writing team will script the first season in a way that’ll explain to viewers the who, what, where, and why. But why rely on them? With the following handy dandy listings, you won’t need the creators behind the show to do their jobs correctly. That’s because you’ll have plenty of background. All with the barest of efforts.

Countdown: The Absolute Bare Minimum

Ahsoka in the Mandalorian

If you simply can’t be bothered watching a long list of shows and episodes, then this listing is for you. It’s as short as homework assignments can come. Two episodes. Less than 2 hours. Granted, the episodes are from two different shows but both are on Disney+ so that shouldn’t be too much of a concern. The shows and episodes in question comprise the entirety of Ahsoka in live action (so far). They are:

  • The Mandalorian Chapter 13 “The Jedi” (Season 2, Episode 5)
  • The Book of Boba Fett Chapter 6 “From the Desert Came a Stranger” (Season 1, Episode 6)

A Little More Effort

Ahsoka with Ezra Bridger in Rebels

So you’re the type who doesn’t just slide by. While you don’t see the point in overdoing it, you like to be somewhat prepared. Which is why this listing is for you. This one has more meat around the edges. It includes more titles — an amount that may feel daunting — but be aware that all the Rebels episodes are less than 30 minutes long each. Thus, when you add it all up, you’re looking at around 6 hours of viewing. Note that the episodes chosen consist of the final 8 episodes of the Rebels TV show. Watching this should give you a rounded understanding of the main group of characters not named Ahsoka:

  • Rebels “Rebel Assault” (Season 4, Episode 9)
  • Rebels “Jedi Knight” (Season 4, Episode 10)
  • Rebels “Dume” (Season 4, Episode 11)
  • Rebels “Wolves and a Door” (Season 4, Episode 12)
  • Rebels “A World Between Worlds” (Season 4, Episode 13)
  • Rebels “A Fool’s Hope” (Season 4, Episode 14)
  • Rebels “Family Reunion — and Farewell” (Season 4, Episode 15)
  • Rebels “Family Reunion — and Farewell” (Season 4, Episode 16)
  • The Mandalorian Chapter 13 “The Jedi” (Season 2, Episode 5)
  • The Book of Boba Fett Chapter 6 “From the Desert Came a Stranger” (Season 1, Episode 6)

The Ahsoka Completist

Ahsoka walking away from the Jedi

To consume everything Ahsoka would probably take a solid two weeks (if not more) to complete.

Challenge accepted!

It would require watching The Clones Wars movie, the entire seven-season run of the Clone Wars animated show, all four seasons of Rebels, three episodes in Tales of the Jedi, the single episodes in the Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett, the Rise of Skywalker movie, the Star Wars Forces of Destiny animated web series, an episode of Star Wars: Tales From The Far, Far Away fan comic, and a book by E.K. Johnston titled Ahsoka.

Whew! Hopefully I caught everything. But if I haven’t — and you know that — then you’re a far better completist than I.

The Ahsoka Primer: Countdown to Success

No matter which level you belong to, my hope is that you’re fully prepared for what looks to be an entertaining TV series. One that is likely to set the stage for years of Star Wars programming. And even a movie. Enjoy!
