In the age of live service games, there is more pressure than ever to deliver content to fans at a consistent pace. Call of Duty is no exception to the rule. Filled with seasonal updates in the last few years, players have come to expect regular, free content drops. This year, it seems they’re going to get their first major release of free DLC sooner than ever. Some players were able to glitch into Modern Warfare 3‘s Multiplayer Menu early and get a peek at some of the content down the pipeline.

Featured Playlists Include MWII Maps

A Look at the MW3 Lobby Reveals Future Content.

As previously detailed in the Call of Duty Blog, maps from last years MW2 are slated to come to MW3 soon. Alongside a Terminal 24/7 Playlist, and an “Experimental Playlist” (which may be a developer placeholder), a Modern Warfare II Moshpit is arriving soon. Doing the math from the timestamp on these images, it seems this playlist will go live in the early afternoon – per Eastern Standard Time – of Friday, November 17th.

This would be the fastest a major content update hits a new Call of Duty entry in franchise history, with a free Map Pack of these maps being added to the game just a week and some hours from the full MW3 launch on November 10th.

Which MW2 Maps are Coming to MW3?

Activision had already confirmed that 4 Maps from MW2 would arrive to MW3, but only listed 3. The ones that were initially confirmed were MW2 originals Mercado Las Almas and Farm 18, and Modern Warfare (2019) fan-favorite Shoot House. Data-miners have confirmed, unsurprisingly, that the 4th map in rotation will be non-other than Shipment. This addition will be welcome to players who are eager to Rank Up fast and grind Weapon Camos.

These maps have been confirmed to be visually identical to their MW2 counterparts. When they arrive in the current Call of Duty they will have the added features and weapons of MW3. Personally, I’m excited to see how these maps play in the new entry. Mercado and Farm 18 had incredible layouts that made for exciting matches. MW2‘s clunky movement and other features which slowed game pace prevented them from shining as brightly as they likely will in MW3.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is available from November 10th on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
