After Microsoft struck a deal to acquire Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion in January of this year, many fans have wondered if Diablo 4 will appear on Xbox Game Pass. That does not seem to be the case presently, at least according to Rod Fergusson, a Senior Vice President at Blizzard Entertainment, who has replied to several questions on the matter over the past few days on Twitter by stating:

Microsoft’s Hurdles

Multiple parties, including Sony and the EU, have pushed back on the acquisition, citing concerns about a potential monopolization of the gaming market. The deal also hinges on the FTC’s filing a motion to sue and block the merger. Unless the FTC’s attempt to block the acquisition is successful, Microsoft’s deal to acquire Activision Blizzard is expected to be finalized in June 2023.

If the deal goes through, we could still see the whole Diablo series on Xbox Game Pass eventually, as many of Bethesda’s games were added over a year after the Maryland-based studio was acquired in March 2021. So, it will take a while until we know for sure.

Diablo 4 releases on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on June 6th, 2023.
