If there is one game that I have been super hyped to have come out this year it is AEW Fight Forever. Especially as I am a big pro wrestling fan and love watching All Elite Wrestling (AEW). AEW Fight Forever has been mired with constant delays as it was supposed to release in March. Well, there has been another update to the game and I would like to go through the update right now.

It was originally announced by Tony Khan who is the head of All Elite Wrestling, that the game was done and is coming very soon, but multiple issues have held the game back. As mentioned in an earlier article “AEW Fight Forever: What’s Going On With The Release Date?” the delay was focused on a problem with the ESRB rating of the game.

I also stated that “…they wanted to delay the game to ensure that the game was polished, works well, and looks great.” Turns out I might have been right with that too, surmising from Zyddie’s tweet.

GCW or AEW Fight Forever

So wow, turns out they were in fact polishing the game to ensure everything is working well. However, that is not all… there is an impending lawsuit with the Fight Forever moniker. Independent promotion Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) is alleging that they own the Fight Forever moniker/trademark and not AEW. It is a tricky thing as it was speculated that it was resolved in “good faith”, but if a court extension is being made, I’m not so sure when this lawsuit will be completed.

As of now, it is tricky to predict what will happen next with the lawsuit. In my opinion, I would not be shocked if this game does not get released until late 2023 or early 2024. I do trust AEW and I think that this game will still be very fun to play once it is out.

AEW Fight Forever will release in the future and be playable on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
