Choosing a wand was critical for Harry Potter to become a wizard, and it is no less important in Hogwarts Legacy. When creating a wand, customization options are vast, so let’s review your options.

Hogwarts Legacy allows players to craft their wand from a wide variety of woods, colors, shapes, flexibility, length, and cores. But please keep in mind that once a wand is chosen, you won’t be able to change it. The wand chooses the wizard, after all. A Quick Word About Wands

Once a wand is created, it cannot be changed. Therefore, your character will carry that wand with them throughout the game. However, you will find various handles as you progress through the main storyline that can slightly alter the style of your wand. Additionally, there is no benefit or penalty to any of the woods, cores, or designs you choose; this creation is purely aesthetic, and you should make the choices you enjoy most. Lastly, if you link Hogwarts Legacy to your Wizarding World account, the wand linked to your account will become your wand in the game. Pretty neat, huh?

Hogwarts Legacy allows players to choose from eight different wand styles, each with three color options. Wand style refers to a wand’s shape and general appearance. These are standard and recognizable designs we’ve seen in the movies.

The next step in wand customization is choosing your wood. This is one of the most unique pieces of wand customization. Surprisingly, there are 38 different kinds of wood to choose from, ranging from Alder to Yew. According to the Wizarding World website, wand length has no bearing on the wand’s power and is only marginally tied to height. Wands can vary in size from 9 and 1/2 to 14 and 1/2 inches.

The next option is to choose wand flexibility. Nineteen different options denote the flexibility of the wand and, through extension, its owner’s flexibility. Lastly, wand handles are acquired throughout the game, allowing you to customize the appearance of your wand further. They are the one aspect of wand creation that is not made permanent upon completion.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S.
