Dead Space Remake has a total of five difficulty settings: “Story,” “Easy,” “Medium,” “Hard,” and finally, a new mode made specifically for the remake, “Impossible.” The impossible setting, as the name implies, is incredibly difficult to pull off. The achievement lists for PS5 and Steam only prove this, as only 0.50% and 1.2% of players have gotten the “Untouchable” achievement.

Although it may seem like the previous setting, since Isaac’s health is lower, and the damage done by the necromorphs is increased, there are a couple of major differences between the two modes. While you are luckily able to save in Impossible difficulty, there is only one save slot. You will also need to manually save, as the autosave feature is off. The biggest challenge is that the Impossible mode is essentially a rouge-like mode, as you only have one life. If you die, you can only continue on Hard or restart from the beginning. Dying in the Dead Space Remake is not hard, considering the number of enemies and hazards out to get you.

A Heartbreaking Dead Space Defeat

Unfortunately, one Reddit user, “Legal-Legend69” found out the hard way, as they died close to the end of the game by running into an object.

Just literally the worst. Our hearts go our to this brave, cursed soul.

Dead Space Remake is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
